Sojourner Truth and the Unfinished Fight for Equality  About the cover of that edition of the New Yorker

Sojourner’s granddaughter Barbara Allen participated in the unveiling of a statue in her honor in Angola Indiana where she was arrested during her 1861 tour.  “It was a risk she took every time she stepped on a podium, and Allen can feel that resolve flowing through her veins.”
