High School Scholarship

"I recognize that the inequality of opportunity is not unique to my family, but is found throughout the world. I believe it is my obligation to take action to address this unequal distribution of opportunity in my local and global communities." --a scholarship recipient

sajoEach year the Sojourner Truth Memorial Committee awards up to three $1000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors from local public high schools. These scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate in an essay their experience and commitment to social justice and equality.

The committee has awarded scholarships since 2006; they are awarded during our yearly Sojourner Truth Memorial Celebration on the Sunday before Memorial Day.
