New Grant from the Northampton Education Foundation Funds Curriculum Development

We are pleased to announce that we have received an additional yearlong grant from the Northampton Education Foundation, which will fund curriculum development.

After bringing all fifth grade classes in Northampton on walking tours of the African American Heritage Trail this year, we will spend the summer working with fifth grade teachers and technology specialists to develop a curriculum unit about abolitionists and Sojourner Truth in 19th-century Florence history and an interactive website for fifth grade classrooms to use now and in the future. Each year, students will be able to add their ideas to the website.

We are excited to continue bringing Sojourner’s history and teachings into classrooms in our community.
