Critchlow Factory Site

This building was an early part of the Nonotuck Silk Company, established by Samuel L. Hill in the mid-1850s. It was built on the site of the daguerrotype factory of Alfred C. Critchlow. Critchlow harbored the fugitive slave Louis French in this factory. The original wooden building burned in 1854.
